Customer relationship management is how you develop in your marketing skills. Marketing your business is all about how you market yourself. If you are the owner, the salesman, the marketing advisor, and the janitor all rolled into one, your presentation to your customer is how they will perceive you. As a potential customer walks into your place of business, what is the first thing they see? Is it your neat office space? Is it your cute outfit? Or do they see a solution to their problem?
Presentation is good but it is not the only thing that will sell your product. People are looking for answers to their problems. You need to present the solution. You are actually developing a relationship with your customers. Once they get to know, like, and trust you, they will take the next step. Whether they purchase from you, or they simply get answers to a problem, they are leaving with a smile on their face. Hopefully, they are spreading the word to their neighbors about how you helped them.
There was an old song my Dad used to sing called “Getting to know you, getting to know all about you.” That’s what your customers need before they buy from you. They need to get to know all about you. They can do that through your products, your services, referrals of former customers, and your current jobs of present customers. How are your customers getting to know you?
